Welcome to SeaShoreMusicNJ!

While our website is far from complete and will see many improvements in the future, we're launching it now to support our core mission: providing a stage for startup musicians. Our aim is to give them essential live performance experience, allowing them to refine their musical talents in front of an audience. We appreciate your understanding as we grow.

About SeaShoreMusicNJ

SeaShoreMusicNJ.com is a grassroots music community born from SeaShoreMusic.com and the original NJCoast project. What began as a way to support local bands and performers along the NJ Coast has grown into a home for emerging artists and acoustic/lite acts—whether you’re a solo musician just stepping up or a new group finding your voice. Our mission is to offer a true music-focused venue, giving new talent the chance to play for a live audience, build their confidence, and gain much-needed exposure in a supportive environment. We embrace all local musicians, but we shine an extra light on those just getting started in the scene. You’ll find SeaShoreMusicNJ.com shows in welcoming venues around the Jersey Shore, with many of our summer events taking place outdoors under the open sky. We’re passionate about keeping music accessible, vibrant, and community-driven—and helping the next wave of great artists get their start. Looking for more? Check out our "Past Shows and Testimonials" page!

Seeking New Artists!

Are you a musician eager to showcase your talent? We're seeking artists for our upcoming shows! We feature acoustic or very lightly amplified sets, and all music performed must be original or performed with explicit permission. We're excited to be collaborating with some more experienced musicians who may allow you to play their songs at our events; we'll share more about this opportunity in a later section.
Our current performance spaces are in the Matawan and Toms River areas. In the Matawan area, you'll find us performing outdoors in well-maintained, well-lit parking lots, with the full support of the local merchants. Our Toms River shows will be hosted indoors and possibly outdoors at a spacious coffee house. There is a preset time allotment for each act in the lineup. SeaShoreMusicNJ provides everything needed to perform (other than yourself and the instruments) so there is no outside amps or speakers. We are looking to keep this low-pressure, local, and an easy way to not only gain experience, but connect with other musicians in the area! Ready to share your music with our audience? Please click this link and fill out our performer contact information sheet. We're looking forward to building our roster of talented musicians! And not to exclude our past friends and performers, you are always welcome to play the stage at these upcoming shows!

For the Audience

The audience is a main component of what we do here at SeaShoreMusicNJ. Being a part of the audience means people not only get to enjoy, but have the opportunity to meet and give feedback to those fresh to the industry.
Audience members play a crucial role in shaping the energy and overall atmosphere of a live music show, especially at venues around the Jersey Shore. As attendees enjoy their favorite bands or artists, their reactions—such as cheering, clapping, singing along, and dancing—serve as immediate and powerful feedback that amplifies the performers' enthusiasm. This collective response creates a dynamic interaction between the audience and musicians, fostering an engaging environment where the crowd’s enthusiasm can influence the performance itself. For instance, a lively crowd might motivate bands to extend their set or try new improvisations, making each show unique and memorable. In addition to vocal and physical responses, audience feedback at Jersey Shore venues often occurs through more subtle cues. The energy in the room, the way a crowd responds to particular songs, and even body language can signal to performers what resonates most. Venues often encourage this interaction through call-and-response segments or by inviting audience participation, further strengthening the connection between the performers and their fans. Overall, the feedback loop between audience and performers is essential in creating vibrant live music experiences, making each show at the Jersey Shore a shared celebration of music and community. To Our Past Performers:

We’ve been proud to watch so many of you evolve from passionate newcomers on our stage to the seasoned, successful performers you are today. Now, we’re asking you to help us nurture the next wave of local talent. Our free and low-budget showcases are crucial practice grounds for musicians who are new to the scene and still learning to write their own material, meaning they rely heavily on performing cover songs. The single greatest barrier we face in keeping these shows accessible is the high cost of Performer Rights Organization (PRO) fees associated with those covers. We humbly ask our experienced alumni to consider granting our current beginner musicians the temporary, limited opportunity to play a selection of your music royalty-free specifically at our local, non-profit shows. This gesture of support is an invaluable gift, allowing the next generation to gain essential public experience without forcing our developmental program to incur unsustainable costs, truly letting you pay forward the opportunity you once had.

If you want to check out pieces of our past, and hear from those we have worked with in the past please check out "Past Shows and Testimonials" page. If you are interested in allowing these new to the scene artists and performers to play your original music at our shows only, please check out our "Past Performers" page for information!
